Ghana Rural Farmer Biochar Carbon Project: This Project aims to transform agricultural waste, such as cocoa and palm kernel waste, and other waste into valuable climate and livelihood assets. In many farming communities in Ghana, these residues are burned or left to decompose, causing greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution, and pest problems, while wasting a resource that could enhance soil fertility.
The project will establish systems to collect and aggregate residues, convert them into biochar and other carbon-rich products via environmentally sound technologies, and apply these to agricultural soils to increase soil organic carbon. Using robust monitoring, reporting, and verification aligned with leading carbon standards, the initiative will generate high-quality carbon credits and ensure fair, transparent benefit-sharing with farmers and communities.
Smallholder farmers, cooperatives, rural youth, and local enterprises will benefit through new income streams, job creation, improved soil health, higher and more stable yields, and enhanced resilience to climate shocks. Implemented in phased pilots and subsequent scale-up, and supported by strong public–private partnerships, the initiative will contribute directly to rural development and a circular, climate-smart agricultural economy. Our program“Pigs For Prosperity” is an initiative to improve the livelihoods of rural pig farmers especially women by transforming a subsistence pig production system to a market-oriented production system through promotion of a locally suitable, innovative package of practices for increasing the productivity of smallholder pig production systems. We are giving a holistic and innovative approach to rural pig farming as a serious business to create employment and improve economic lives of farmers with limited opportunities. We want farmers to start making profit from their farms within 6-7 months period by improved feeding and adopting good farm management practices.

Poultry and Livestock Enhancement Program (PLEP) — an initiative focused on assisting farmers by offering access to superior breeds, high-quality feeds and additives, technical expertise, and comprehensive farm support. This program aims to enhance the productivity, profitability, and sustainability of poultry and livestock farming across our designated regions.
By addressing shortcomings in farm inputs, management know-how, and technical assistance, Gateway Feeds and Farms strives to enable farmers to achieve greater yields, healthier livestock, and improved incomes, thus making a substantial contribution to local food security and economic progress.
Poultry and livestock farming play a vital role in Ghana’s food supply and rural economy. However, many farmers face ongoing challenges with low productivity due to restricted access to better breeds, poor feed quality, insufficient technical farming knowledge, and limited on-farm assistance. Gateway Feeds and Farms acknowledges these obstacles and, through this program, offers a comprehensive solution designed to strengthen and enhance farm enterprises, allowing them to effectively compete both locally and internationally.
